Can you survive seven days without going online? A question by Bianca Mascenon in the August issue of Candy magazine. Sounds interesting, right? So I gave it a try. Surviving a week with no Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The big question for me is, how can I survive? Social media is everywhere! But I found a trick that will help me (hopefully) in this challenge. I hid all my social media apps to avoid distractions. Well, it helps a little in some ways. So here’s what happened each day of the seven days social media challenge
Day 1
AM: I spent it by reading a magazine. I took a photo of the August issue of Candy mag and I was tempted to post it on Instagram but my mind says: “You need to survive this challenge!”
PM: Watching TV all night
☑️ Success
◽️ Failure
Day 2
AM: Went out of the house and had no Wi-Fi which is a good thing for me. Hooray!
PM: Where are my social media apps? Oops, I forgot they where hidden. So I just played some games on the phone to escape boredom and slept early
☑️ Success
◽️ Failure
Day 3
AM: Omg. 3rd day without going online. I’m starting to wonder what’s happening on the online world. Should I quit now?
PM: Checks messenger. Oops, 5 messages. I recieved a great news. I need to tweet this!!
◽️ Success
☑️ Failure
Day 4
AM: Reading a book all day
PM: Slept early
☑️ Success
◽️ Failure
Day 5
AM: Went to a friend’s house and had a time to eat ang chit-chat with her all day
PM: I put all my social media apps on their old position. Checks Facebook and Instagram. I’m dead!
◽️ Success
☑️ Failure
Day 6
AM: Checked emails and decided to clean my room
PM: Twitter party all night
◽️ Success
☑️ Failure
Day 7
AM: I went online to read some fashion blogs and since I already failed the challenge, I posted the photo I took 5 days ago – the candy magazine and others.
PM: Updated my blog.
◽️ Success
☑️ Failure
That’s it! My seven days social media challenge. Sad to say, I failed.
I could survive, off the grid is my new thing haha. But then I'm a blogger who earns from being online most of the time to accommodate clients and maintain my site and ranking, so right now that isn't the case. I can if the need arises. I have crafts stuff and cooking to do. 🙂
hahaha oh well i congratulate you for trying! it's hard for me not to go online as well even for a day. i'm very dependent on social media feeds to keep me posted on what's happening in the world since I don't watch the news.
I will definitely fail. hahaha! No more or less. Unfortunately, our lives are so involved with social media. My dad is 67 and now gets worried if he can't check his facebook.
