Hi! I hope you’re in a safe place right now while reading this post. As we all know, the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has affected a lot of people globally and taken the lives of many. This pandemic has been causing a global threat, with billions of people living anxiously and driving significant disruptions in the economy.
I’m supposed to be in Hongkong right now, but due to the threat, I canceled all my flights this year just to be safe. The situation in our country is genuinely heartbreaking. Our government implemented the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, wherein we are advised to stay at home as much as possible and practice social distancing. Most of the establishments have also been closed, and public transportation was suspended.
Community quarantine may be a disorientating experience, especially for those of us who are used to spending most of our time outside the house. But, it’s also essential to look on the bright side, while channeling our energy into some productive activities. So, I decided to give you an idea of what are the things that you can do at home while making your day worthwhile despite this quarantine.
Create a routine for your day. Having a daily routine is essential during this time to be productive and to avoid boredom. It doesn’t need to be strict. Something like waking up in the morning at your usual time, showering, getting dressed, and getting your work done on time. You can also make time to clean your house and declutter your things.
Spend time with your family. This quarantine is a blessing in disguise. We have been complaining of not being able to spend time with family or at home because of work commitments and our busy schedule. But now, you can use most of your time with them and have a wholesome conversation.
Learn how to cook or bake. Since we can’t eat at our favorite restaurant and we might not be able to get our food delivered either, this is the perfect time to widen our culinary skills! There are lots of tutorials that we can read or watch online.
Yoga or home workouts. For most people (like me) who blame their busy schedule for being the reason why they are not able to exercise, this is the best time to pay attention to our health. There are fun exercises that can be done in the comfort of our home! Also, for those people who are regular at the gym, you can make space for your home gym.
Despite what’s happening right now in our country, I still consider myself lucky because I can stay at home with my family and work from home as usual. We can still be able to buy our supply from time to time, unlike other people who still need to go to work to feed their families. It is sad to hear how they force to go to work amidst the pandemic. Frontlines are also risking their health to treat the increasing number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Aside from washing our hands and self-quarantining, we can help our frontliners in the comfort of our home! A simple amount to spare in just a few clicks can mean a lot to protect lives. Your donation will enable our health workers to stay healthy, and eventually slow the rate of COVID-19 infections in the country. It can also provide meals, sanitation items, test kits, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for many of our health personnel in more than 100 hospitals nationwide. As of today (March 26,2020), a total of PHP 1,219,365.00 has been raised by 813 people.
Aboitiz Foundation partnered with the UP Medical Foundation, TOWNS Foundation, and a network of infectious disease specialist in the Philippines to purchase and distribute PPE kits containing masks, gloves, impermeable gowns, face shields, goggles, scrub booties and other safety gear, estimated to cost PHP 950 per kit. They are also working with Rock Education Philippines, Inc. to deliver meals to many of our health workers in various hospitals.
They are seeking more ways to donate test kits to hospitals and PPEs for health workers in identified locations. Should you wish to donate via bank transfer, you may donate directly to Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. with UnionBank account number: 0002 6000 1442.

It's funny how great minds think alike! I also wrote about how we can use this time, not get bored while staying productive on my publication- https://strivewithme.com/how-to-overcome-demotivation-and-get-back-to-achieving-your-goals-serving-your-purpose/ It's a part of a 3-part series so the next one will be releasing shortly. Hope this helps you add a few fun things to your quarantine to-do list 🙂

I realized too that during this stay-at-home crisis, I have so much work to do which I failed to accomplish but now I am slowly getting back into shape to finish what I left off during happy times.

This season is truly tough for everyone and all we can do is follow the mandate rules and stay at home. Aside from sending donations, when I came back from Australia, I would like to give back to the community the way that I can together with my boyfriend.
