In a significant milestone for BDO Foundation’s unwavering commitment to healthcare development, the organization has successfully completed the rehabilitation of the Getafe Rural Health Unit (RHU) in Bohol, marking its 150th initiative since embarking on a mission to enhance healthcare infrastructure and access in underserved communities in 2012. The recently inaugurated Getafe RHU promises to bring improved comfort and functionality to health professionals and patients alike, boasting enhanced structures, offices, consultation, and treatment rooms.
The Getafe RHU, unveiled on October 26, is set to benefit over 30,000 residents in the municipality, exemplifying BDO Foundation’s dedication to transforming lives and communities. President Mario A. Deriquito expressed pride in the accomplishment, highlighting that this initiative is the 13th RHU in Bohol, with five more facilities in the pipeline. The revitalized health center empowers healthcare providers to deliver essential primary and maternal health services to the constituents, fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
As the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, BDO Foundation has been a trailblazer in uplifting lives through initiatives like rehabilitating and rebuilding RHUs, financial education, and relief operations. This latest achievement underscores the organization’s commitment to being a catalyst for positive change.
In addition to the successful rehabilitation of the Getafe RHU, BDO Foundation has also delivered the newly renovated Argao RHU II in Cebu, further solidifying its dedication to providing quality healthcare services across different regions. The one-storey facility is now equipped to serve 36,000 people in 22 barangays, ensuring that a broader segment of the community has access to essential healthcare resources.
Deriquito emphasized the foundation’s belief that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and the Argao RHU aligns seamlessly with their commitment to making a positive impact in Cebu. Similar to other rehabilitated RHUs, the Argao health center features improved clinics, consultation and treatment rooms for primary and maternal health services, a waiting lounge catering to senior citizens, and a dedicated play area for children.
The Argao RHU represents the fifth health center rehabilitated by BDO Foundation in the province of Cebu, illustrating the organization’s sustained efforts to address healthcare disparities and create a more inclusive healthcare landscape.
As BDO Foundation celebrates the completion of its 150th healthcare initiative, it continues to be a driving force for positive change in the Philippines. The organization remains dedicated to its corporate social responsibility initiatives, making a lasting impact on communities through healthcare improvements, financial education, and relief operations.
